Railway Minister Mohammad Mujibul Haq on Wednesday said a total of 188 railway stations already have modernized and the rest 192 stations will be modernized in phases.
“A total of 188 railway stations including Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Sylhet and Dinajpur have been modernized …and the rest 192 railway stations would be modernized through reconstruction and re- modelling in phases,” said the minister while responding to a query made by Begum Sanjida Khanam of women seat-24 at the house.
Haq said Bangladesh Railway has now a total of 460 stations where 380 stations are in operations and the rest 80 stations are totally closed.
Of the closed down 80 stations, 39 stations remain shut in Pakshi division, 12 under Lalmonirhat division, 20 in Dhaka division and 9 in Chittagong division.
