Nur Hossain`s `girlfriend` arrested

Police have arrested a Narayanganj reserved seat councillor, who is said to be the ‘girlfriend’ of Nur Hossain, the prime suspect in the city’s seven murders. Jannatul Ferdous Nila was arrested outside the district Circuit House on Sunday evening. She was exiting the public hearing held there by an administrative probe committee when the arrest was made. “We have arrested the so-called wife of Nur Hossain at 6pm. She will be questioned about the murders,” said Sadar Model Police OC Monjur Quader. Ward-2 Councillor and Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam was kidnapped along with four of his aides from the city’s court premises on Apr 27. Senior local lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and his car’s driver also went missing on the same day. All seven of their dead bodies were salvaged from Sitalakhyya River at Bandar Upazila after they were seen floating there several days after the abductions. The slain councillor’s family accused Ward-4 Councillor Nur Hossain, a known rival of Nazrul, of being the mastermind who paid RAB to carry out the killings. –bdnews24.com
