Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) demanded announcement of the 9th wage board within July 29. Otherwise, the DUJ will go for a tough programme from July 30, they said at an executive committee meeting of the union on Sunday, said a press release. As part of the programme, the journalists under the leadership of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and DUJ will take position in front of the secretariat at 11am on July 30, the release added.The DUJ meeting decided to observe regular programmes unitedly to press home the demand for the wage board. It also decided to hold memorial meetings for DUJ’s deceased President and General Secretary and forum leaders. The DUJ leaders also called for cancelling section 57 of the ICT act and asked the government not to keep any provision related to repression of journalists in the proposed digital security act. The function was addressed, among others, by DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Vice-President Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary M Shahjahan Mia, Sport and Cultural Secretary Mafizur Rahman Khan Babu, Executive Committee members AM Shahjahan Mia, Mortuza Haider Liton, Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury, Dulal Khan, Monjusree Biswas and Hemayet Hossain. DUJ President Saban Mahmud presided over the programme.
