A court here on Wednesday sentenced a youth to death for killing a minor girl after rape in the district in 2015.
The court also fined condemned convict Jahid Mondol, 35 of Joduboyra village of Kumarkhali in the district, Tk 5 lakh.
According to the prosecution, Eshita Khatun, a seven year old girl, went missing from when she
went to a nearby field with her mother Lipi Khatun to cut grass on December 5, 2015.
Later, her body was recovered from another place of the village and locals saw Jahid fleeing along with two or three men from the scene.
Victim’s father filed a case against Jahid and three others with Kumarkhali Police Station.
After examining all witnesses and documents, Judge of Additional District and Sessions Court-1 Reza Mohammad Alamgir Hasan handed down the verdict.
