China quietly releases new intelligence law

China on Tuesday quietly released the first public draft of an intelligence law giving authorities powers to monitor suspects, raid premises, and seize vehicles and devices while investigating domestic and foreign individuals and groups.
President Xi Jinping has overseen a raft of legislation to bolster national security against threats from both within and outside China.
S Korea, US to hold summit in June

South Korea’s left-leaning new leader Moon Jae-In will travel to the US for a summit with President Donald Trump next month, Moon’s spokesman said Tuesday, amid high tensions over the North’s nuclear ambitions. Moon backs engagement with nuclear-armed North Korea to try to reduce tensions, while Trump’s administration has said military action was an option under consideration.

An editor of a leading Turkish opposition newspaper has been arrested for allegedly spreading “terrorist propaganda.”
Oguz Guven, the editor of Cumhuriyet newspaper’s online edition, was formally arrested Monday evening after being detained Friday.
The state-run Anadolu news agency said Guven was arrested for his legal responsibility over the newspaper’s tweets, specifically in reference to a tweet on the death of prosecutor Mustafa Alper in a traffic accident last week.
Ivory Coast soldiers accept deal to end mutiny

The leaders of a nationwide military mutiny in Ivory Coast have accepted a government proposal on bonus payments and agreed to return to barracks and end their revolt, two spokesmen told reporters in the city of Bouake on Tuesday.. The spokemen said the deal included an immediate bonus payment of 5 million CFA francs ($8,400) for the 8,400 mutineers and a further payment of 2 million CFA francs at the end of June..
