Armed Police Battalion (APBN) in two drives seized 265 cartons of illegal foreign cigarettes worth about Taka 4.77 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city last night.
“We arrested one Rokonuzzaman, arrived at the airport from Malaysia, and recovered 42 cartons illegal foreign cigarettes from his possession after searching his luggage,” said senior officer of APBN Md Ziaul Haque.
In another drive, they held another Abdullah Al Mamun, who flew from Air Arabia, with 217 cartons
illegal cigarettes, he said. The estimated value of the seized cigarettes was Taka 4.77 lakh which were handed over to the customs authority.
