Its a shame
THE founding president of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is reported to have once said: ‘Everyone gets a goldmine but I have got a mine of thieves.’
Little did he know that the ‘mine of thieves’ would be infested with dacoits, killers, rapists, kidnappers, etc.
The morality of a section of the people seems to have degenerated so much that they do not even hesitate to steal gold from the crests that were handed to the ‘Friends of the Liberation War’.
It has been reported that some of these crests had 75 per cent less gold than specified. Moreover, less costly materials were used in the crests in place of silver.
Such brazen acts by some have brought shame for the entire nation.
The authorities concerned must take these people to task and set prohibitive precedents so that no one dares play with the nation’s pride in future.
