At least eight miscreants, including a fake Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), were arrested in separate drives in the city’s different areas on Tuesday.
They are: Rajib Dey Sarkar, 24, Ariful Hasan, 25 and Nayeb Ali, 24, Rezaul Karim, 35, Mizanur Rahman, 45, Rabiul Islam, 30, Sagor Mia, 45, and Saddam, 25, police said.

(OC) Selimuzzaman said that a patrol team of police arrested Razib, Arif and Nayeb from in front of Parbat Cinema Hall at Gabtali when they were trying to commit robbery in the area.
An air gun, a machete and a motor cycle were seized from their possession, the police official.
Meanwhile, a team of detective branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a drive arrested Rezaul, Mizanur and Rabiul from Technical Area around 4:00am, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP.
Besides, a team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested a fake ASP from capital’s Gabtali area on Tuesday morning.
The arrested man has been identified as Sagar Miah, said Monir Hossain, Inspector of PBI.
Shampur Police arrested Saddam on charge of trying to commit robbery in the area around 3:00am.
