Md. Moniruzzaman, an Assistant Proctor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), resigned from the proctorial body following the murder of Saad, a final year student of Faculty of Fisheries and Bangladesh Chhatra league (BCL) leader on April 1. The previous day, fellow BCL activists clobbered him with hockey sticks, iron rods and cricket stumps in his dormitory.
He submitted his resignation letter to the proctor officially on Wednesday on personal reason and for failure to discharge his responsibilities.
“I have resigned for my failure to discharge my responsibilities during the incident of Saad killing. Anybody could do better in my position, I think. I am also in need of time for doing my PhD.,” said Md. Moniruzzaman about his resignation.
In this regard, BAU Proctor Prof. Dr. Shahidur Rahman Khan said,”I did not see any resignation letter in my office yet. He is doing his duties as usual”.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), resigned his post on April 3 two days after Saad died. But he is still carrying on his as usual duties, sources said.
It is to be mentioned that the teachers have suspended class-exam till next Monday demanding a new probe body for supplementary investigation and immediate resignation of the Students Affairs Advisor.
