Eid train ticket sale begins on June 22

Dhaka, June 15 (UNB) – Bangladesh Railway will start selling of advance train tickets on June 22 for homebound people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque announced the decision at a press briefing after a meeting at Railway Bhaban on Wednesday. Tickets for July 1 will be available on June 22, while that for July 2 will be sold on June 23, for July 3 on June 24, for July 4 on June 25 and for July 5 on June 26. Besides, the return tickets for the journey of July 8 will be available on July 4, and that for July 9 on July 5, for July 10 and 11 on July 7 and for July 12 on July 8. The ticket sale will begin at 8 am and each passenger can buy maximum four tickets. While briefing, the Railways Minister said a total of seven pairs of special trains will run on several routes from July 3 to July 5 and from July 8 to July 14. These trains are Dewanganj special (Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka), Chandpur special-1 and Chandpur special-2 (Dhaka-Chittagong), Parbatipur Special (Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur), Khulna special (Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna). Besides, two trains— Kishoreganj special-1 (Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhairab) and Kishoreganj special-2 (Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh) — will run on the eid day for Sholakia eid jamaat, said the minister. The government has decided to launch one pair of direct trains on Dhaka-Chittagong route before eid. The train schedule will be known later, he said. Meanwhile, the government has cancelled the weekly holiday of the railway staff and employees of all inter-city trains from July 1 till one day before the Eid-ul-Fitr. He said there are currently 692 coaches and 170 more will be added before the eid. Besides, the GRP, RNB, BGB and local police and Rab have been asked to keep vigil for preventing selling of tickets on black market. However, mobile courts led by deputy commissioners concerned will conduct drives to check selling of tickets on black markets, said Mazibul.
