UNB, Dhaka :Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad (SASP), a forum of pro-Awami League lawyers, swept the election to the Dhaka Bar Association.SASP candidates Mohammad Saidur Rahman Manik and Mohammad Ayubur Rahman were elected president and general secretary of the DBA respectively defeating their rival candidates Khorshed Alam and Azizul Islam Khan frompro-BNP-Jamaat lawyers’ platform Jatiyatabadi Oikya Panel (JOP).Advocate Shah Alam Khan, chief election commissioner of DBA, announced the results around 6am on Saturday.The results show SASP secured 21 out of 27 posts while JOP won six posts including treasurer and executive committee members.The two-day long election for the 2016-17 tenure began on February 24 at the lawyers’ association auditorium of Dhaka Bar in the capital.
