RSRM: The pioneer of re-rolling mills in Bangladesh

The story of Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills, Bangladesh’s pioneer steel re-rolling mill, goes back to 1972 when its founder Maksudur Rahman started his business career. Within twelve years of his business career, Maksudur Rahman established Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills as a unit of Ratanpur Group.
RSRM was established in 1984 to meet the growing demand of high quality mild sheet (MS) deformed bars in the country. The mill is situated in the heart of the progressive Baizid Bostami industrial Area, Chittagong.
Today, RSRM is widely recognised as one of the leading steel manufacturers in the country and has embarked upon a series of initiatives aimed at increasing its production capacity to 400,000 metric tons of world-class products per annum. RSRM’s facilities include state-of-the-art melting and refining furnaces and rolling mills with the latest automated features. Other necessary ancillaries include main power sub-station, water complex for primary, secondary and emergency water supply, natural gas supply station, machine shop with CNC machine, pollution control system, well equipped quality control department cranes of different capacities including crawler cranes for material handling etc.
RSRM re-bars are supplied in sizes of 8,10,12, 16,20,25,32, 40 and 50 mm diameters. They are in fixed length of twelve meters. RSRM provides bars of different sizes, lengths and grades as required by clients.
RSRM is the pioneer and most innovative steel product manufacturing company in Bangladesh. The company is made of more than one thousand teammates whose goal is to take care of customers. It ensures the safest and low cost products of highest quality to win confidence of users.
Unlike the management of all other steel re-rolling mills of the country, RSRM management has initiated a very laudable job of carrying on a CSR (corporate social responsibility) program for providing financial assistance for poor, but meritorious students in the country. It has started a number of scholarship programs in universities like Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
RSRM has donated to BUET a Shimadzu UH-1000 KNI, a universal testing machine worth over BDT one crore as part of its CSR program. RSRM is contributing greatly towards creating space for better environment. It makes new steel from recycle scrap that offers up to 75 per cent energy savings. RSRM is recycling scrap and contributing to the environment.
