At least 11 persons including four female garment workers, were killed and 38 others injured in separate road accidents across the country on Tuesday.In Chittagong, four garment workers were killed when a train hit a mini-bus near Janalihat Station of the port city. The victims have been identified as Yasmin (22), Ria Akhter (21), Julia Akhter (30) and Sweety (20). Of the injured, 15 were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.All the victims are employees of ‘Base Textile Limited’ in Chittagong. A city-bound local train from Dohazari crashed into the minibus while crossing the rail track near the outer-signal around 8:00am, leaving the four women dead on the spot and 15 others injured, eye witnesses said. Those who were killed and the injured were passengers of the minibus.Meanwhile, a five-member probe committee headed by Chief Engineer of Railway Eastern Zone, Mahbubul Alam, has been formed to investigate the incident. Bangladesh Railway has formed another five-member committee headed by Firoz Iftekhar, Divisionkal Transport Officer (DTO) to investigate the incident, said Jobaida Akter, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Railway Eastern Zone.The police have arrested minibus driver Didar.Bangladesh Railway Authority has suspended Janalihat station master Nejam Uddin and Transport Officer Titu Kanti Das for their negligence to duty. In Dinajpur, three people including two children were killed and 20 other passengers injured in a bus accident in Parbatipur under Dinajpur on Tuesday evening.The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Injured passengers were rushed to local Fulbari Health Complex and Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. The bus skidded off the road into a roadside ditch causing the accident, witnesses told the police. Later police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and shifted the injured to hospital. Nuruzzaman, Sub Inspector of Parbatipur police station, confirmed the incident. Two persons were killed in a road accident at Charmonai in Barisal Sadar upazilla on Tuesday.The deceased have been identified as Bashir (25) and Nawshad (40) of the village.Witnesses said, Nawshad was going to Rajarchar from Biswaser Hat by a rented motorbike of Bashir. The motorbike hit a roadside tree as he lost control over steering by another motorbike, leaving Nawshad dead on the spot and Bashir injured critically. Later injured Bashir was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital , where he succumbed to his injuries.In Bogra, a Nosimon driver was killed in a road accident in Kahalu area under the district on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Fulmia (35). Witnesses said, Fulmia was driving his sugar loaded vehicle to Bogra. A bus from the opposite direction hit his vehicle leaving him dead on the spot. The killer bus fled the scene quickly. Meanwhile , in another accident at Sathia, Pabna one unidentified person aged 32 was killed on Pabna-Bogra Highway when a BRTC bus collided head-on with a “Karimon” on Tuesday afternoon. Three passengers of Karimon were also injured in the accident. A SI of Sathia said the accident occurred when a passenger BRTC bus was going towards Pabna from Sirajganj, it collided head-on with a Karimon. One of the passengers of Karimon was killed on the spot, he said.
