Campus Report :Bangladesh Open University (BOU) will launch its Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) programme in Saint Martin Island of Coxbazar district. BOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M A Mannan disclosed it while visiting the proposed land of Coxbazar Sub Regional Office and Saint Martin Island on Monday last. Uzzal Bhowmick, Head Master Bangladesh Navy Islamic high school of Saint Martin Island and the local people met with the Vice-chancellor BOU and requested him to open a Study Centre of the University to facilitate education for the drop out students of local area. Director, Planning and Development Dr M Fazleah Ali, Regional Director, Chittagong Dr Md. Azizul Hoque, were also present at the time. The Vice-Chancellor immediately took the decision to facilitate education for the people of the Island for spreading education. Earlier Vice-Chancellor along with the to member team visited Teknaf and Saint Martin Island in a fesibility study to stablished Sub-Regional Center.It is to be mention here that there is only one high school and three primary schools are in the Saint Martin Island. People deprived from education with due reason, Fishermen and other community of the society of Saint Martin Island will have the privilege of education through the BOU Study Centre and will be able to work as efficient manpower.
