Kakur Kitchen opens

Carrying on a long campaign through inserting expensive front page advertisements in many national English and vernacular dailies, Kakur (uncle’s) Kitchen, a Biriany and Kabab item selling restaurant on 78 Green Road, Farm gate has been opened for business at long last. When this correspondent visited this restaurant at about 2-30 in the afternoon on October 18 (Sunday), there was no customer having any food item in the 70-seat restaurant.
The food items at Kakur Kitchen are Dom Biriany at BDT 190 per plate, Dom Tehari at BDT 170 per plate, Dom Morog Polao at BDT 190 per plate, Jali Kabab (chicken) at BDT 65 per piece, Jali Kabab (beef) at BDT 55 per piece, Borhani at BDT 100 per litre and Borhani at BDT 60 per half a litre.
“After you had left the restaurant, 50 to 60 customers from different parts of Dhaka entered and had food items at our restaurant,” said Zahidul Islam Jami, the General Manager of Kakur Kitchen while talking to this correspondent over telephone at about 10-30 in the morning on October 19 (Monday). “For preparing good food items, we procure pure Ghee from Ghosh Dairy of Satkhira and use spices imported from Indonesia,” Jami added.
“Initially we have a target of serving one thousand customers who will either dine at our outlet or avail ‘take away’ service. Also we have a plan to open five chain outlets in Dhaka city and afterwards we will have our outlets in India and some other countries,” Jami added.
