A new case has been filed by Karnaphuli police station in Chittagong regarding the quota movement in Chittagong. A total of 34 cases including 23 cases in Chittagong Metropolitan Police Station and 11 cases in Chittagong District Police Station have been filed in this regard.
According to the police, 983 people were arrested in Chittagong city and district from the night of July 16 to Wednesday (July 31) at eight o’clock in the morning. Most of them are BNP-Jamaat supporters and students of various universities, colleges and madrasas.
3 people were killed in Muradpur area under Panchlaish Thana of the city in the afternoon of July 16 in the clash of Jubo League and Chhatra League with the agitators. Last July 18, 2 people were killed in a clash at Bahaddarhat under Chandgaon police station. Hriday Chandra Tarua, a CU student who was shot in the Bahaddarhat clash, died on July 23 at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
CMP Media and Public Relations Department Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz told that a total of 23 cases have been filed in Chittagong in connection with killings, riots, terrorist activities and sabotage during the quota movement.
