A new case has been registered at the city’s Kotwali police station on charges of attacking the police and obstructing government work around the quota movement in Chittagong. Apart from this, another case has also been filed in Pahartali police station of the city.
A total of 33 cases have been filed including 22 cases in various police stations in Chittagong city and 11 cases in Chittagong district police stations. According to the police, 966 people have been arrested in Chittagong city and district from the night of July 16 to Tuesday (July 30) at eight o’clock in the morning.
Most of them are BNP-Jamaat supporters and students of various universities, colleges and madrasas. 3 people were killed in Muradpur area under Panchlaish Thana of the city in the afternoon of July 16 in the clash of Jubo League and Chhatra League with the agitators. Last July 18, 2 people were killed in a clash at Bahaddarhat under Chandgaon police station. Hriday Chandra Tarua, a CU student who was shot in the Bahaddarhat clash, died on July 23 at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
CMP Media and Public Relations Department Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz told that a total of 22 cases have been filed in Chittagong in connection with the quota movement’s murder, riots, terrorist activities and sabotage.
