Nine additional witnesses have testified in three separate corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and 51 others over allegations of illegally securing government plots in Dhaka’s Purbachal New Town project.
The cases also list Sheikh Rehana’s children Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, Azmira Siddiq, and Radwan Mujib Siddiq among the accused.
On Sunday, Judge RabiuI Alam of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 recorded the witness statements in three separate cases and set 6 October as the next date for testimony.
In the case against Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, and 15 others, four witnesses testified: Mohammad Farhaduzzaman, Executive GM of Eastern Housing Ltd. Sheikh Shamsher Ali, Operative Director of Eastern Housing Ltd. Himel Chandra Das, Assistant Executive Akter Jahan, Administrative Officer, Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
Similarly, in the case involving Azmira Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and 16 others, the same four individuals appeared as witnesses.
In the third case, brought against Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and 16 others, Akter Jahan also testified.
ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Salam confirmed the matter.
The three cases were lodged in January 2025, accusing the defendants of abusing power and irregularly obtaining 10-katha government plots in Purbachal.
On 13 January, ACC Deputy Director Salahuddin filed the case against Sheikh Rehana, naming Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and 15 others as co-accused.
On the same day, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed another case against Azmira Siddiq, implicating Tulip Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and 16 others.
A third case was filed by ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan against Radwan Mujib Siddiq, with Sheikh Hasina, Tulip Siddiq, and 16 others listed as accused.
On 31 July, Judge RabiuI Alam ordered the formal trial to begin after framing charges against the accused in all three cases.
