An 8-year old girl, Tabassum, was killed after allegedly being raped by a group of youth over a feud between two families in Nasratpur village of Dhunte in Bogra.
Police blame the killing on a dispute between families and arrested four people in this connection.
The arrestees are Bappi Ahmed, 22, son of Tozammel Haque of Nasratpur village, Kamal Pasha, 35, son of Dalil Uddin Talukder and Shamim Reza, 22, son of Sanwar Hossain and Lablu Sheikh, 21, son of late Shaheb Ali. According to the police, Bappi, one of the arrestees had a grudge for over three months against Tabassum’s family. He planned to kill the minor to take revenge and planned this murder with the help of his friends.
Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Bogura Superintendent of Police, said they were acting as volunteers of a Waz Mahfil that Tabassum joined with her grandparents and aunties on Saturday.
At one point she went to a shop with other children where Bappi allured her to Haji Kazem Jubeda Technical College. The quartet then violated the child in turn. The girl fainted as she was bleeding profusely when Bappi strangled her to death. The body was brutally disfigured to make it look like a victim of wild animals.
The victim’s father Belal Hossain Khokon filed a case after the body was recovered.
Gaziur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Sherpur Circle, said police ran a drive and arrested the accused from their own houses. The detainees confessed to the murder and rape during preliminary interrogation.
Police asked for an 8-day remand as the arrestees were produced before the court.
