DU Correspondent :The Dhaka University (DU) authorities held eight suspected Islami Chhatra Shibir men from Sir AF Rahman Hall of the university early Monday and handed over them to Shahbagh Police Station.The detainees have been identified as Md Sohel and Masud Rana, both 4th year students of Anthropology Department, Morshedul Wadul, a 3rd year student of Anthropology Department, Humayun, a 2nd year student of Sociology Department, Alauddin, a 2nd year student of Arabic department, Ruhul, a first year student of Sociology Department and Shimul Hossain, a 2nd year student of Persian Department, while the name of another suspected Shibir activist could not be known immediately.DU acting Proctor Amzad Ali said, “Some BCL activists led by the hall unit General Secretary Ruhul Amin caught the eight around 2:30am. Later, they were handed over to Shahbagh Police Station.” Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirazul Islam told The New Nation yesterday that the DU authorities kept some eight students in police custody in the morning. “We have already started investigation about the detainees,” he said.
