78 snatchers held in city last month

A total of 78 professional snatchers were arrested from the city’s airport areas in the month of October, said a press release on Saturday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in the release, said the airport police arrested the criminals while they were trying to snatch the valuables of pedestrians and foreign-bound passengers in various areas under the police station, including the airport roundabout areas.

It said special teams of airport police station conducted regular operations in various places under its jurisdiction, including the roundabout area, to prevent snatching.

Almost every one of the arrested has multiple cases in different police stations of the DMP, the release added.
