A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday morning to commemorate Pakistan’s Independence Day.

In a symbolic display of national pride, students from various colleges and universities across Bangladesh joined the High Commissioner, Syed Ahmed Maroof, in hoisting the national flag to the tune of Pakistan’s national anthem, according to a press release.

This year’s celebration held special significance, with the participation of 50 Pakistani students currently staying at the High Commission due to special arrangements made by the Mission in light of the recent situation in Bangladesh.

A highlight of the event was the reading of messages from Pakistan’s leadership by students.

Abdul Moez, a student from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College in Dhaka, delivered the President of Pakistan’s message. Mubashara Eiman and UmeWarqa from Sir Salimullah Medical College in Dhaka read the messages from the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, respectively.

In their messages, Pakistan’s leadership congratulated the nation on this momentous occasion, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by the founding fathers. They reaffirmed their commitment to building Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Additionally, they expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), reiterating Pakistan’s steadfast support for their just struggle.

In his concluding remarks, High Commissioner Maroof echoed the sentiments expressed by Pakistan’s leadership and urged everyone to follow the vision of the nation’s founders. He expressed satisfaction with the safety and well-being of Pakistani students in Bangladesh and appreciated their resilience and active participation in the Independence Day celebrations.

High Commissioner Maroof extended special thanks to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for ensuring the students’ safety. He noted that their presence added a unique and meaningful dimension to this year’s celebrations, as the students chose to partake in the festivities before returning to their academic institutions.
