Police have recovered 75 crude bombs and some 1,500 sticks at Chhagalnaiya Upazila, in Feni district, on Friday, three days before the fifth round of the Upazila Parishad election is held there.
The law enforcers recovered the crude bombs during a raid in storehouse owned by one Mohiuddin in Bashpara in the morning.
Officer-in-Charge of the Chhagalnaiya Police Station Moazzem Hossain told bdnews24.com that acting on a tip-off, they conducted a raid in the storehouse and recovered the explosives and sticks.
Police detained two people for interrogation in this connection.
They are the night guard of the area Abul Kalam Azad, 48, and sweeper ‘Babul’, 50. Filing of a case under the Explosive Substances Act was underway. The election to Chhagalnaiya Upazila council is slated for March 31.
