70 held from Sundarbans in one month

In the month of July, 2025 some 70 persons were arrested and a huge quantities of Mala (wreathe) traps made with nylon threads, 14 thousand in length for catching deer and 148 trawlers were seized from the Eastern Division of Sundarbans alone in the month of July by the forest guards on the charge of entering in the forest violating the ban imposed on the entrance of any one in the forest for long 3 months (with effect from June 01 to 31st August), the breeding period of fish, crabs and wildlife including hunting and smuggling out the wildlife, particularly the spotted deer by the forest guards.

The arrestees were already sent to the jail at Bagerhat district headquarters through the learned court.

During the month of July the forest guards conducted as many as 58 pincer-movements in the different places like Dublarchar, Kachikhali, Shelarchar, Katka, Kokilmoni, Charaputia, Andharmanik etc.

within Sharankhola and Chandpai Forest Ranges under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans in Bagerhat district alone and seized as many as 148 fishing trawlers and fishing boats.

During the period (month of July) some 70 fishermen were arrested in the hands of the forest guards.
