7 more sports federations get new ad-hoc committee

The National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday dissolved the executive committees of seven
more sports governing bodies and announced ad-hoc committees for each of them following the recommendation of the search committee.

The seven sports disciplines are – swimming, table tennis, volleyball, karate, weightlifting, bodybuilding and fencing.

Bangladesh Swimming Federation
President — Mohammad Nazmul Hassan (Chief of Naval Staff)
General Secretary – Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen (former player and organizer).
Table Tennis Federation

President -MH Zaman (managing director of Micro Fiver Group)
General Secretary – AM Maksud Ahmed (former player and captain).
Volleyball Federation
President -Farque Hasan (director of Giant Group) General Secretary – Bimal Ghosh Bulu (former captain of national volleyball team.)

Karate Federation
President – Shahzada Alam (industrialist Asiatic Cotton Mills)
General Secretary — Md. Moazzem Hossain (former national and international awardee, organizer and coach.)

Bodybuilding Federation
President -Md. Mostafa Kamal (additional IGP, chief PBI)
General Secretary – Dr. M. Kamruzzaman (former sportsman)

Weightlifting Federation
President – Wing Commander Mohiuddin Ahmed (retd.) (former player and experienced organizer)
General Secretary – Lieutenant Colonel Md. Shahidul Islam Chowdhury (former player of national team, trainer, coach and organizer).

Fencing Federation
President – Freedom fighter Kamrul Islam
General Secretary, Basunia M Ashiqul Islam (patron).
Earlier, a search committee was formed in August last year to bring changes in the country’s sports arena. Based on the recommendation of that committee, nine sports federation were dissolved and ad-hoc committees were announced for federation in November last year. Nearly after two and a half months, the NSC dissolved seven more existing committee of sports federations and formed new ad-hock committee.
