7 grocery shops fined amid efforts to stabilise prices

Two market monitoring teams from the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) fined seven grocery shops on Wednesday as part of efforts to stabilize the prices of essential commodities.

The market monitoring teams of the MoC conducted the drives at Townhall kitchen market at Mohammadpur and Malibagh kitchen market in the city. The team monitored the prices of essential items like rice, lentils, eggs, and chicken, read a press release of the CoM.

A team led by Zannatul Ferdous, deputy secretary of the ministry, fined five enterprises and groceries of Tk 3,500 for not properly changing the price list and not preserving the vouchers of commodities.

Another team led by assistant secretary M Abdul Kader fined Tk 3,000 to two shops in Malibagh market for not complying with the rules.

Officials of various departments under the ministry and members of the law enforcing agencies were present.
