Seven Bangladeshi crewmen, who were released on Saturday by Somali pirates after more than three and a half years of captivity, will arrive in Dhaka on Thursday.

The foreign ministry said they would arrive by an Emirates flight, EK-582, at 8.40am.

Senior government officials will receive them at the airport.

The crewmen were on board the Malaysian ship, MV Albedo, hijacked in November 2010.

On their release, they were taken to
Nairobi, where the Bangladesh mission took care of them and arranged travel documents.

They were in good health.

The government appreciated the role of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the London-based Maritime Piracy and Humanitarian Response Programme (MPHRP) for their continuous support and assistance in securing the hostages’ release. –bdnews24.com
