DU Correspondent :
After blocking Science Laboratory intersection of the capital for around five hours on Tuesday, the students of the seven Dhaka University (DU) affiliated colleges stated to continue the protest for today demanding the formation of an independent university for their institutions after being freed from the DU affiliation.

A commission must be formed for the transformation of the affiliated seven colleges into an independent public university within this night, otherwise the students will continue the blockade on Wednesday,” Abdur Rahman, the focal person of the seven college university transformation team, stated.

He also added that the ‘University Transformation Commission’ should be formed to establish an independent public university.

Their movement will continue until that commission is formed. As part of the movement, the road will be blocked here from 9 am to 5 pm today.

However, hulting traffic, the agitators blocked the intersection on Tuesday and protested there for around five hours resulting in heavy traffic jams on the surrounding roads.

The agitating students said that they have been protesting for a long time for the formation of an independent university as we have been suffering academically and fall into session jam, but the government is not paying attention to their demands.

“We demanded to form a commission in this regard, but that has not been done. We will leave the streets only if the commission is formed,” the students added.
