67 DU students gets Dean’s Award

A total of sixty seven meritorious students from different departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s Award’ for their excellent academic results in BS (Hons.) examinations of 2019 and 2020. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed the awards among the students at a function held on Wednesday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. A K M Mahbub Hasan presided over the function while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal and Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed addressed it as special guests. Chairpersons of the various departments declared the names of awardees. Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment Prof. Dr. Md. Harunor Rashid Khan gave vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman called upon the students to conduct fundamental research on biological sciences to make Bangladesh a developed country. Students have to play effective role to ensure social security in the country, he added. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the meritorious students for achieving Deans Award. He urged them to become good human being with the combination of academic excellence and non-communal as well as humanitarian values. It may be mentioned that 7 students from Soil, Water and Environment Department, 10 from Botany Department, 10 from Zoology Department, 10 from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department, 3 from psychology Department, 10 from Microbiology Department, 7 from Fisheries Department and 10 from Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department have received Deans Award.
