The nation will commemorate the 61st death anniversary of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, a pioneer of democracy and one of the most prominent leaders of undivided India, today.
Suhrawardy, who devoted his life to promoting democracy and the welfare of the people, passed away on December 5, 1963, at a hotel in Beirut, Lebanon.
He was alone at the time of his death.Born on September 8, 1892, in a distinguished Muslim family in Medinipur, West Bengal, Suhrawardy emerged as a towering statesman and politician during the first half of the 20th century.
He served as the Premier of Bengal in British India and later became the fifth Prime Minister of Pakistan.President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, in separate messages, paid heartfelt tributes to Suhrawardy’s memory on the eve of his death anniversary.
They lauded his contributions to democracy, his unwavering dedication to public welfare, and his unparalleled role in shaping political history.
Suhrawardy remains a respected figure for his vision, leadership, and efforts to uphold democratic ideals.
On this occasion, various organizations and institutions are expected to host discussions and events to honor his legacy and reflect on his contributions to politics and governance.
