6 vessels fined on Shitalakkhya River

A mobile court of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has fined six vessels a total of 90,000 BDT for various irregularities on the Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj.

The operation was conducted on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, led by BIWTA Executive Magistrate Ziaur Rahman.

The mobile court covered the river route from Kanchpur Bridge to Rupshi under the jurisdiction of the Narayanganj River Port’s Traffic Management Division.

During the raid, Deputy Director of BIWTA’s Marine Safety Department Nahid Hossain, Inspector Hafizur Rahman, and other officials, along with a team from the river police, were present.

Inspector Hafizur Rahman stated that 10-15 vessels were inspected during the operation. Among them, six vessels were fined a total of 90,000 BDT for various violations.
