Six smugglers including 2 women were arrested along with11 kgs venison (flesh of deer) and 08 Mobile Phones from Mongla Port town on Tuesday (January 07) by a contingent of the Coastguards of the Western Zone deployed Mongla.
It was disclosed by Lt, Mushfiq-us-Salehin, media Officer of the Coastguards of the (Western Zone) Wednesday morning. The arrested smugglers are Md. Rahim, Taijul Islam, Sohel Hossain , Sadul Islam hail from Keraniganj in Dhaka, Kalpona Aktar Naju and Mosammat Mukta hail from Kaliganj in Jhenida district.
The Media Officer said acting on secret information a contingent of the Coastguards conducted a raid the area, adjacent to Ferry Ghat (permanent Poot) bus stand, searched a micro bus bound for Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon at about 2 pm and seized 11 kgs venison (flesh of spotted deer of Sundarbans), arrested 11 smugglers including 2 women and recovered some 08 mobile phones from them. Later, the seized venison, micro bus, mobiles and the arrested smugglers were handed over to Dhayungmary Forest Station Office under Chandpai Forest Range under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans in Bagerhat district.
