A mobile court in a drive in Sunamganj fined six restaurants and food shops Tk50,000 in Gobindaganj upazila of the district on charges of various offences on Wednesday.
The offences include preparing foods in an unhygienic environment, selling expired products and cheating customers in weight.
A team of the local administration conducted the drive led by executive magistrate Ainur Akter Panna.
The team was also comprised of police members and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution officials.
Bismillah Hotel and Restaurant, Fiza Confectionary and Sweetmeat, Daina Restaurant and Sonar Bangla Hotel and Restaurant were fined Tk10,000 each for preparing foods in an unhygienic atmosphere, selling expired products and giving less in weight.
Sohana Departmental Store and Fulkoli Sweetmeat were also fined Tk5,000 each on the same charges.
