Members of Detective Branch (DB) arrested six activists of the banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJi) from the city’s Zindabahar Park area of Uttara on Tuesday night.
They were identified as : Sajjadul Alam Mukti, 46, Mesbah Ur Rahman Pradip, 37, ‘Bashar’, 37, ‘Ashraf’, 37, ‘Aziz’ alias ‘Babu’, 36 and ‘Shafik’ alias ‘Palash’ alias ‘Bijoy’, 35, said Maruf Hossain Sardar, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) spokesman said.
A Dhaka court has granted six-day remand for the HuJi members to interrogate.
The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj passed the order on Wednesday afternoon after the police produced the suspected militants in the court.
Detective Branch Senior Assistant Commissioner Mahmuda Afroze said that Jihadi literature and propaganda material had been seized from there, she said.
A case has been filed in this connection, the police official said.
