Bangladesh Army has arrested six people involved who directly involved in the killing of Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon in Cox’s Bazar.
The accused persons have been identified as Md Babul Prakash, 44, Md Helal Uddin, 34, Md Anwar Hakim, 28, Md Arif Ullah, 25, Md Ziabul Karim, 45, and Md Hussain, 39.
In a statement, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said following the incident, the army members conducted a combing operation in Chakaria and detained six people for their involvement in the killing.
They also recovered two locally-made firearms, 11 rounds of bullet, a knife used in killing, one pick-up and a motorcycle.
The statement also informed that in primary interrogation, the detainees revealed that four of the detainees were directly involved in the crime, while the remaining two assisted by providing critical information.
Among them, Md Babul Prakash has been identified as the main financier of the operation and has provided a preliminary confession, admitting that he fatally stabbed Lieutenant Tanzim.
It said that they continue the drives to nab other members of the robbers’ group.
Earlier, Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon, 23, was killed during an operation by joint forces against criminals, including those who held illegal arms in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
The detainees were handed over to the Chakaria police station. To file a case in connection with the incident is under process, said the statement.
