HSC Results Dispute: 53 held following secretariat siege

Members of law enforcement agencies arrested 53 HSC students from the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon who allegedly entered the secretariat building breaking police barriers and demanding cancellation of HSC results.

They were arrested around 3:50 on Wednesday (Oct 23).
According to sources, around 3 PM, defying the police barrier, a group of agitating students entered the secretariat and took position in front of 6 no. Bhaban.

Initially, the on-duty law enforcers requested them to leave their positions in the Secretariat.
As they declined to move, security personnel charged on them, beating some with batons.

Many of the protesting students were forced to leave the Secretariat, but a section got locked in on the premises.
In this regards, Ramna Police Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam said police have taken at least 50 people into custody among the protesters. Further action will be taken after the quizzing.
