In Ishwardi only 4 out of 55 steamers have license. The remaining 51 kilns are illegal. The illegal brick kilns are located in Lakshikunda Union. In view of the order of the High Court, the Deputy Commissioner of Pabna. Asaduzzaman told the court this information. After the double bench hearing of the High Court on July 16, Ishwardi ordered the removal of all illegal brick kilns in the upazila within one month. Supreme Court senior lawyer Advocate Rabiul Alam Budu confirmed this information.
According to court sources, when the news of the environmental destruction of illegal brick kilns in Ishwardi was published in various media, Supreme Court lawyer Dipankar Kumar Ghosh voluntarily filed a writ petition in the High Court. In view of this, the High Court ordered the removal of illegal brick kilns.
Earlier, the High Court ordered the Director of Rajshahi Divisional Environment Department, Pabna District Commissioner and Ishwardi Upazila Executive Officer to submit the list of illegal brick kilns. The Deputy Commissioner also said that last year 7 illegal brick kilns were fined 3 lakh 10 thousand taka and 7 brick kilns were removed.
