Parliament on Monday passed the ‘Supreme Court Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2014’ providing for increase of their remuneration by 50 percent as ‘special allowance’.
Law Minister Anisul Haq moved the bill, which was passed by voice vote in the House.
In the objective of the Bill, it was stated that the remuneration and other facilities of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and other judges of Appellate Division and High Court Division are fixed as per the Supreme Court Judges
(Remuneration and Privileges) Ordinance, 1978.
It said, that the government has decided to increase the remuneration of the judges by 50 percent of their respective remuneration as ‘special allowance’.
