Staff Reporter :

Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder has announced that a total of 300,000 tons of rice will be distributed in March and April under the food-friendly program during Ramadan.

“As part of this initiative, approximately 50 lakh families will receive 15 kg of rice at a subsidized rate of Tk 30 per kg,” he stated while speaking to reporters after the first session on the second day of the three-day District Commissioners (DCs) conference.

He further mentioned that a significant quantity of foodgrains would be provided at highly affordable prices, and in some cases, free of cost during Ramadan. The DCs have been directed to ensure smooth and organized implementation of the program.

Adviser Majumder also said that one crore families would receive 10 kg of rice free of cost during Eid.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to modernizing land management, he noted that survey operations are currently being conducted using drones and other advanced technologies.

When asked about the processing of pending e-namzaari applications before March 10, Majumder clarified that it is a continuous process, with new applications being received regularly.

However, he expressed confidence that the system would be fully operational before the mentioned date.
