Five members of a family, including three children, were burnt in a fire at Kafrul in the capital on Monday morning. The tin-shed house was also burnt to ashes.
The local people rescued them and rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) immediately, police said.
The victims have been identified as Joynul Abedin, 38, his wife Peyara Begum, 35, sons Rabiul Hasan, 12, and Rabbi, 7 and niece Khadiza Akhter, 15.
Quoting the witnesses, the DMCH’s police outpost Inspector Mozammel Haque said that doctors of
burnt unit of the hospital informed him that Joynul and Peyara were seriously burnt while three others were out of danger.
An official of the Fire Service unit of Mirpur said that they could not ascertain as to how did the tin-shed house catch fire? However the fire might be originated from a faulty ceiling fan.
