At least five people have killed in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj.
The accidents occurred between Sunday afternoon to Monday.
The deceased are Rubel Mia (25), Md. Siddiq Hossain (65), Firoza Begum (62), Abdul Majid (45) and an unidentified 60-year-old man. Rubel, Siddiq of Shalangka village of Narandi union of Pakundia upazila, Firoza is the son of the late Mir Hossain of Hossaindi Paschimpara village of Hossaindi union of Pakundia upazila and Abdul Majid is a resident of Bhati Baratia village of Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj.
It is learned that on Sunday evening around 7:30 pm, a lorry carrying oil hit a young man named Rubel, who was riding a motorcycle, in front of Maijhati Babar Ali Market. Rubel Mia died on the spot. Earlier, around 5 pm, a truck hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw from behind in front of Maijhati Medinatul Uloom Madrasa. An unidentified man, aged around 60, was seriously injured in the accident. Later, local people rescued him and took him to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
On the other hand, Md. Siddiq Hossain died of a heart attack at Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital around 1 am on Sunday. Upon hearing the news of her elder brother’s death, her ailing younger sister Firoza Begum, who was living at her brother’s house, fainted while crying and collapsed at around 2:30 am. It is learnt that Firoza Begum had been ill for a long time.
Meanwhile, on Monday at around 6:30 am, an intercity eleven- car train left Kishoreganj for Dhaka. At that time, Abdul Majid was crossing the railway line while talking on his mobile phone at the Siddheshwari Kalibari railway crossing. At that time, the intercity eleven-car train leaving for Dhaka was hit by the morning train and he died. Later, on receiving information, the Railway Police Station went to the spot and recovered the body.
Kishoreganj, GRP Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Liton Mia, Katiadi Highway Police Station (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani and Pakundia Upazila Chhatra Dal Joint Convener and Hossaindi UP Panel Chairman Md. Suruj Miah were died in separate incidents.
