Forty-seven superintendents of police (SPs) have been promoted to the rank of additional deputy inspector general (Addl DIG) of police. The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the notification on Wednesday, September 25.
Earlier this week, a departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting was held at the ministry, where the promotions were approved.
Sources indicate that many of the officers promoted had been passed over during the Sheikh Hasina regime, despite meeting all the necessary criteria for promotion.
One of the newly promoted officials expressed his relief to the media, stating, “My promotion file was in order, but it was rejected twice by the DPC without a clear explanation for the denial.”
“Finally, after years of hardship and social embarrassment, we have received justice,” he added.
