4 polythene factories in Bhairab sealed off, fined Tk 5 lakh

A mobile court on Tuesday sealed off unauthorized four factories and fined Tk. 502000 for producing polythene illegally in Bhairab port town of Kishoreganj.
A joint team the District Administration, Department of Environment (DoE) and Police have conducted the drive. The operation led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) & Executive Magistrate Mohammad Iqbal Hossain.
The polythene owners named Khalilur Rahman Limon fined tk 2 lakh,  Monir  Hossain’s polythene factory tk. 1.5 lakh,  Ashraf Mollah’s polythene factory tk. 1.50 lakhs and Md. Rabbi Miah’s shop   fined tk 2,000.
When contact to Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Farzana Khanam told the New Nation   that,   banned polythene is harmful to the environment. They have been fined under the Environment Protection Act. This campaign will continue in public interest, Kishoreganj’s ADM Farzana Khanam added.
