A tragic road accident in Gauripur, Mymensingh, claimed the lives of four people, including two sisters, while two others remain hospitalized. The accident occurred around 6:00 AM on Sunday at the Saheb Kachari Chandrapara intersection on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway.
The deceased have been identified as Kulsum Begum (95), wife of Obaidur Rahman Akand from Durbachar Namabari in Gauripur; Mosammat Dilruba (40), wife of Mohammad Manik Mia; and two sisters, Riti (14) and Priti (7), daughters of Saiful Islam from Natok Ghar Lane in Mymensingh city.
The injured survivors are identified as Shyamoli (20) and Mahi (14).
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a sand-laden truck collided with an autorickshaw, leading to the casualties.
Gauripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mirza Mazaharul Anwar stated that six individuals were initially injured in the crash. Local residents rushed them to the emergency department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced three of them dead on arrival.
One of the remaining injured later succumbed to their injuries, while the other two are still undergoing treatment.
