District and Sessions Judge Court in Sirajganj on Wednesday sentenced four persons to Jail until death for killing a shop worker and looting cash and valuable goods from him. The court also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default; they have to suffer one more month in Jail. M Ali Ahmed, Senior District and Sessions Judge of the court delivered the verdict in absence of the accused.
The convicted are: Ismail Hossain Sheikh alias Russell, son of Saiful Islam Sheikh, Robin Sheikh, son of Farhad Ali Sheikh, Nahid Sheikh, son of Farid Ali Sheikh and Abdul Momin, son of Alam Sheikh, all of Mahmudpur village in the town.
According to the case documents, the accused killed Shamim Hossain, 23, son of Shamsul Haque of Kandapara village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila and also worker of Alauddin Store at SS Road in the town and snatched cash and other valuable goods away from his possession, when he went to Ullapara to supply goods of the shop on June 25, 2016. Police recovered his body from a field near Barohar Dakshminpara village in Ullapara upazila of the district on June 26.
Victim’s father Shamsul Haque lodged a case with Ullapara police station in this connection.
Then, police using different modern technologies were able to arrest four suspects named Russel, Robin, Nahid and Ripon in this connection.
