Four people lost their lives and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur early Monday morning.
The deceased include Manik (35), the microbus driver from Hariharpur in Dinajpur Sadar and son of the late Abul, and Delwar Hossain (45), a treasury official from Hajipara in Thakurgaon town and son of the late Hafizur Rahman. The identities of the other two victims have not yet been confirmed.
The accident took place around 6:00 am amid light rain on the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon highway near the Chabbish Mile area, said Md Raihan, Sub-Inspector of Birganj Police Station.
According to police, a Thakurgaon-bound cement-laden truck collided head-on with the microbus coming from the opposite direction, killing two people, including the driver, on the spot.
The injured were taken to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for treatment.
