4 BRDB officers charge sheeted by ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday approved charge sheets against four persons on separate graft cases.
The commission permitted charge sheet against three officers of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) on charge of embezzling over Tk 1.50 lakh of Magura District Cooperative Society.
The accused have been identified as BRDB’s Sripur Upazila’s former Deputy Project Official Autul Chandra Shil, Upazila Project Officer Begum Mahbuba Ahmed (Suspended) and Filed Organiser Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Pasha.
The anti-graft watchdog filed a case against the three persons with Sripur thana on May 6 in 2002 in connection with the embezzlement of the fund.
According to the ACC, the accused collected Tk 156,667 from nine cooperative societies in the upazila and embezzled the sum.
The commission also gave approval of charge sheet against another person in a case for plundering Tk 50 lakh from a branch of Bangladesh Krishi Bank.
M/S Solar Syndicate’s Proprietor Farhad Hossain misappropriated the amount from a branch of the bank in Chittagong.
The ACC filed a case with Kotwali thana against him on December 30 in 1999.
The charge sheets might be submitted to the court in a week, said the ACC Public Relations Officer.
