Entertainment Report :
In tribute to National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth anniversary, a new album titled ‘The Nazrul Tapes-Reflected by Jahid Nirob’ reimagines four
of his classic songs.
Musician Jahid Nirob has infused the timeless compositions with modern arrangements, blending electronic elements to reinterpret Nazrul’s works through a contemporary lens.
The album features vocal performances by artistes Dilshad Nahar Kona, Masha Islam, Shamim Hasan and Jahid Nirob himself.
Kona has lent her voice to ‘Mor Ghumo Ghore Ele Monohor’, Masha Islam sings ‘Amar Aponar Cheye’, Shamim Hasan performs ‘Uchaton Mon’, while Jahid Nirob presents ‘Sure O Banir Mala Diye’.
A special launch event for the album will be held on May 24 at Jatra Biroti in Dhaka where the participating artistes will perform the featured tracks live.
In addition to songs by Nazrul, the performers will also deliver selected personal favourites.
Tickets for the event are priced at Tk1,000, with advance sales already underway.
Jahid Nirob emphasised that while the music arrangements are new, the original melodies of Nazrul’s compositions have been respectfully preserved. “We were extremely careful not to confuse the name of fusions. The vocal delivery, melody, and lyrics were all treated with the utmost care. For those who love Nazrul Sangeet, this will be a joyful treat. And for listeners who enjoy electronic sounds, it offers a refreshing experience.”
The album ‘The Nazrul Tapes-Reflected by Jahid Nirob’ is expected to be released soon on major digital audio platforms.
