Construction of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is now 99.18 percent complete, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters following an inspection of the new terminal, the Advisor said the visit was primarily aimed at assessing the manpower requirements for the facility, as well as reviewing the travel experience of outbound passengers – particularly any difficulties they face at immigration.

“The third terminal is modern, up-to-date, and visually impressive,” he said. “Although the construction progress has reached 99.18 percent, the final decision on its official inauguration will be made by the relevant authorities.”

He added that the terminal’s enhanced operational capacity is expected to significantly improve the international travel experience. “Once operational, we hope the challenges travellers previously encountered will be greatly reduced, if not eliminated altogether.”

In addition to touring the third terminal, the Advisor also visited Terminals 1 and 2, where he engaged directly with passengers, listened to their complaints, and instructed airport authorities to take necessary steps to address their concerns.

Accompanying the Advisor during the visit were Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, and Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, along with senior immigration officials.
