3kgs gold seized at HSIA, 1 held

Customs Intelligence Department in a drive seized at least three kilograms of gold worth around Tk 1.5 crore from the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Friday morning.
They detained also an Indian national from a flight of Dubai in this connection. The arrested man has been identified as Mahesh Kumar Gopal Das,
46, customs official said. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department’s Assistant Commissioner Farid Al Mamun said that a team of customs officials conducted a drive at Green Channel of the airport at about 11:00am and intercepted Mahesh who came to Dhaka from United Arab Emirates by a Dubai airlines. The Customs Officials found the gold in his luggage.
“The Indian national hide his two gold rods in his other two luggages,” he said.
